The Easter Egg Hunt Committee would like to thank all who  filled all of those eggs, organized flyers, walked the routes doing door hangers, helped with the bulk mailing,  donated candy, door prizes  and even cash for this event.   What an awesome job Augustana!

Susie Brockmeyer thank you for leading the charge and the weekly temple talk that brought us together.  And yes we all want a cool hat. Am I right?

We will see you Saturday!

Easter Cookies

This week,  I happened onto this recipe shared by another blogger and thought you may like it also.

My children love to bake and if we can share the story of Jesus, it is an added bonus. There are  a few things that you will need to get organized before you start.  The ingredients are listed and also some painters tape, a wooden spoon, and your bible are needed.  See the recipe for these simple cookies.

Here is the recipe and also the verses for the cookies:  Cookies Easter

Enjoy!

Plan on attending the Easter Egg Hunt this coming Saturday, April 12.

Also check out worship services for Lenten and Sunday worship services.

The Messenger – Augustana’s April Newsletter

April 2, 2014

Augustana

As a small child, growing up in a ELCA Lutheran family,  I remember the mailman delivering the monthly newsletter from our church.  It was always photocopied in black text on white paper and folded with a staple or piece of tape.  Some things stay the same and that is good.

My memory is clear as I watched my mother, with her cup of coffee,  sitting down to read the church newsletter.  She would read it from cover to cover, commenting on each one of the weddings, the baptisms and the funerals.   There would always be one occasion she did not realize had occurred and she would hesitate and think of the new child or the loss of a member of the church.  She always made a note to send a card or a memorial.  I said to her “why do you do this?” she answered “because this is our church and this is what we do for each other”.  I got it and that is good.

So this week I am going to share The Messenger with my children and tell them why it is important.  Who knows we may be making a memory and that definitely is good.   Click here to read the April 2014 Messenger.

Special thank you to the Men’s Group tonight for a delicious egg bake, muffins and fruit cup.  This mom appreciates not having to cook and I hear that Taco in a Bag is up for next week.

God Bless and have a wonderful week.

Then there was snow…

Sending good thoughts to all as we move snow from our homes, sidewalks and cars.

The sun is shining and the snow is starting to melt.

Special thank you to those who keep Augustana’s sidewalks open.

Here is a photo of downtown Grand Forks to show the amount of snow fall.

Hope to see you!

What a beautiful day it is today, I am hoping that the predicted snow is going to miss us.

It is an exciting time at Augustana Lutheran Church as we move into April.   May we remember to hold our transition team in prayer as they take steps with our future that will be embraced. The history/timeline event this past month showed all of the strong faith filled work that has been done historically in the church. If you haven’t taken the survey yet, here is the link.

Each Sunday we see more and more faces at coffee and enjoy the love of  fellowship with one another.    It is a time to come together to laugh, to comfort and to learn from one another.  For many that have heavy hearts we hold you all in prayer.

The  Messenger for April 2014 is out and in your mail boxes.  Click here to read online.  There is much happening at Augustana Lutheran Church as we prepare for Holy Week.

Special thank you to all who have been working hard to make the Easter Egg Hunt a success–the main event is just around the corner. Thank you to everyone who has offered help, walking, donations of candy and door prizes.

Watch for new posts in this space throughout the month.
